THE DISSECTION OF SHIVA
The main story of SHIVA was lifted from Bruce Lee’s ENTER THE DRAGON where hero comes to a new city and confronts the gang there.

1. opening scene in SHIVA where goons wait and fight ensues by breaking soda bottles, kicking, using small barber knife = inspired from ANKUSH where similar fight is seen between Nana Patekar gang and the rival gang.

2. Introduction scene of Nagarjuna: low angle shot with sun in the background = Inspired from GHARSHANA: introduction of Karthik with a same low angle shot and sun in the background

3. Nagging sister-in-law indirectly demeaning Shiva= Step mother in ARJUN always shouting at Arjun

4. Nagarjuna liking Amala who is a sister of an inspector and both inspector and Shiva have respect for each other in the course of time = inspired from ARJUN but roles reversed. Arjun’s sister likes an inspector and both inspector and Arjun have respect and trust in each other in the course of time.

5. Amala walking into cinema screen in a theatre = inspeired from Janet Jackson song CONTROL in which she walks into the screen

6. Bashing of JD by Nagarjuna : starting from a cafe and into the busy streets and main road where people watch Nagarjuna bashing JD in broad day light = inspired from ARJUN where Sunny Deol beats a goon starting from cafe and runs into busy roads where people watch

7. Killing of Shubhalekha Sudhakar: goons chasing and finally ganesh is shown with a big dager killing sudhakar = inspired from ARJUN where goons kill Arjun’s friend Mohan in a similar chasing scene but in a rainy street (this was a fantastic shot both ARJUN and in SHIVA)

8. Nirmalamma slapping inspector Saichand: inspired from JAWS where mother a kid slaps Roy Schneider

9. The den of Bhavani consists of goons playing cards in the outer room while Bhavani sits in an inside room = inspired from ARDH SATYA where a similar situation is shown while introducing Rama Shetty (Sadashiv Amrapurkar)

10. Bhavani talking on phone while lying on bed and a prostitute sits besides him = inspired from ARDH SATYA where inspector (Shafi Inamdar) talks on phone lying on bed and a prostitute sits besides him.

11. Cycle chasing scene in SHIVA where goons chase Shiva and Shiva being on a cycle = inspired from ARJUN but roles reversed. Arjun being in a cycle chases goons who drive in a car.

12. night fight scene in SHIVA where goons try to attach Shiva’s gang while they were in a small tea stall. They get ready with hockey sticks, rods, chains etc = inspired from ARJUN where Arjun and his friends wait near a tea stall with same hockey sticks, rods and chains and goons come in car and a fight ensues.

13. Killing of Chinna where he tries to escape during night by running in a empty streets and but at last he seems to escape but gets killed = inspired from ARJUN climax scene where arjun runs during night in empty streets and just when he reaches police station again gets attacked by a goon but in this case Arjun kills the gon.

14. Killing of small girl where Bhavani is looks at the girl and then camera captures the girls fear. Next shot shows Nagarjuna looking at the dead body drapped in white cloth = inspired from SHOLAY where gabbar singh point his gun at little kid and the camera captures the fear on that kid. Next shot, train stops in a station followed by Sanjeev Kumar looking the while cloth drapped dead bodies.

15. Climax fight between Shiva and Bhavani : one to one fight where Bhavani uses a small knife = inspired from MACKENNA’s GOLD where Omar Sharif and Gregory Peck have one to one fight and Omar Sharif uses a small dagger.

16. Chinna hitting the pole is copied from SADMA (VASATHA KOKILA) where Kamal Haasan hits the pole in similar fashion in climax scene.

17. Subhaleka Sudhakar hitting the stone while running, just before his killing, was lifted from QAYAMAT SE QAYAMANT TAK
